Dr Bristol’s career in drug discovery research and development spans over 32 years and includes senior positions at Schering-Plough, Parke-Davis, and Pfizer. Most recently, he held the position of Senior Vice President, Worldwide Drug Discovery Research at Pfizer Global Research & Development in New London (Connecticut, USA); a role in which he was responsible for more than 3,000 scientists and colleagues at seven Pfizer sites.
Dr Bristol joined Parke-Davis in 1980, where he held positions of increasing responsibility in chemistry and drug discovery. Whilst at Parke-Davis, he was a member of numerous collaboration oversight committees with responsibility for joint research programs established between Parke-Davis and other pharma companies. He has been involved with the discovery and development of many drugs that have been FDA approved or are currently in clinical development, including Lipitor, Lyrica, and Ibrance. Dr Bristol is a member of the Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Boards of a number of biotechnology companies and advises to a number of venture capital firms.
