Dr Hawkins is Senior Group Leader at the Babraham Institute, Cambridge, UK. He received a BSc from the University of Bristol and a PhD from the University of Birmingham. After post-doctoral training at SK&F Research Ltd., he joined the MRC Cambridge, and subsequently the Babraham Institute. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Society.
With Dr Len Stephens, Dr Hawkins leads a team at the (BBSRC-sponsored) Babraham Institute in Cambridge. Together they have made world-leading contributions to the understanding of PI3-Kinases and neutrophils for over 20 years. Some of their recent work has focused on understanding the role of the p110β and p110δ isoforms in inflammatory responses.
